@plomlompom @reedj It would be nice if you could include this in your services: <http://news.dieweltistgarnichtso.net/bin/twtxt2atom>

If you like twtxt, you will love newsbeuter (feed reader for terminals). <http://newsbeuter.org/screenshots.html>

@reednj please add automatic linkification of URLs.

Quick reminder that everything you are missing in twtxt can be done using a static side generator and an Atom feed.
[1.7 years ago]
@reedj I am somewhat sceptical of you not using RSS. Never subscribed to a podcast or used the “live bookmarks“ feature?
[1.7 years ago]
@reedj I do not use RSS as well. It is a badly designed standard. However, I use Atom. See <http://news.dieweltistgarnichtso.net/bin/>
[1.7 years ago]
@reedj how about Atom feeds so that one could use twtxt with any feed reader?

Yes, this going to result in massively long data files that you KEEP having to re-downloading in their entirety every time. You're welcome.

A feedreader implementation with a custom format that is not an open standard gets 32 points on Hacker News while an implementation of DJB redo gets 2 points.

I can read RSS and Atom feeds on my smartphone. But surely buckket will write a client for it. I'll just wait until he delivers!

“How is this different from a static site generator and an RSS reader?” – It skips the static site generator. And the RSS. And the compatibility.

Hack chat: Very minimalist feel – it only needs GUI, browser, JavaScript, websockets and a physical keyboard with QWERTY layout. Writing an XMPP client is much easier.

Question time: In your experience, is “for hackers” more often shorthand for “bad UX” or “not invented here”?

How about a blockchain-based DHT, where sha140(email) would return a key I could use to ask the twtxt API for a URL?
[1.7 years ago]
The protocol is only necessarily the interface if your software is proprietary.

If twtxt could cache HTTP requests, it would use less bandwith.
[1.7 years ago]
If twtxt could read Atom feeds, it would instantly be compatible with a lot of other software out there.
