one day into reading Walden and i can already see why this book is praised by those simplifying their lives
[3.7 months ago]
around 6 months after starting it, i've finally finished reading infinite jest
[3.9 months ago]
what if instead of building products, we would build tools to build products with and write tutorials on how to build products. the final product would be built by the users themselves.
[5.8 months ago]
in the meanwhile, i've starting publishing some old / new music on soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/0x22/

oh, wow! haven't seen josh for a while, but his website is a rare beauty: https://avanier.now.sh/
[6.2 months ago]
@amorris although i'm still jealous of anyone who has a site built in c... once i'll eliminate javascript and never touch it again
[6.2 months ago]
@amorris it's one of those days when i checked the hallway and what a kind message on top. thanks
[6.2 months ago]
time for a little redesign, isn't it? https://hex22.org/
[6.4 months ago]
spent some time today to put some content on my site again. started collecting notes on various topics: https://hex22.org/wiki/notes/
[6.5 months ago]
still cannot decide between int* a and int *a. the former is error prone, the second one makes absolutely no sense.
[6.5 months ago]
i've included a small form on my site to initiate conversations with those who read it: https://hex22.org/blog/tell-me-what-you-think/
[6.6 months ago]
i've been exploring some ideas in C and hopefully something comes out of it. of course, partly inspired by @neauoire! hope you're all very well
[6.8 months ago]
by the way, i'm so motivated to work that it's hard to stop every day. we're working on something awesome and something that hopefully will help some students learn math in this corona situation.
[6.8 months ago]
i'll have 2 weeks of spring break and as i'm not working full-time, hopefully i'll be in the mood to make glue together a personal project
[6.9 months ago]
made a small tool in C99 to export Kindle highlights to html: https://github.com/kodedninja/kin

i don't miss people and this is not a surprise, but i miss the world. i've been romanticizing with thoughts about going for a hiking / camping trip and don't feel locked inside *anything*.
[7.0 months ago]
these days some sort of claustrophobic discomfort started to wrap around our days. the room and the flat started to feel small, although i can't describe for what would i need more space.
[7.5 months ago]
starting from today I'll have to work and attend university courses from home. looking forward to the experience.

I wrote about my experiences without social media and news (with a slow, personal internet): https://hex22.org/blog/freedom-of-missing-out/

new entry on the site. this one about a new todo method I've started using: https://hex22.org/blog/todo-networks/
[8.6 months ago]
for the last 2 days I've been thinking about a way to manage my todos and seems like I'll have to return to my good old notebook
[8.7 months ago]
spent the afternoon with making some automations to handle the books on my kindle and the highlights. the outcome is quite smooth. thanks github.com/frnsys
[8.7 months ago]
so i'm spending my time with cleaning up my are.na from old channels and there was one called chicken farming automation
[8.7 months ago]
are.na open while i'm awake
[8.7 months ago]
and to be honest Music for Airports is not my type of ambient. maybe it's a bit too ambient and doesn't suck you in. but now I've listened to Ambient 4 for the first time and this album is truly a masterpiece
[8.7 months ago]
for some reason I've never dipped myself in the music of Eno, it somehow skipped my ambient journey...
[8.8 months ago]
i've made an archived version wiki.xxiivv.com and 100r.co and oh, boy, they're huge

duality of ai: to personalize we must generalize

after quite some time, a new entry on my site: https://hex22.org/blog/stakit/
[8.9 months ago]
btw if anyone receives my messages and responds, i don't check the twtxt feed, just tossing thoughts here. into the void.
[8.9 months ago]
but wow, the design of go is amazing
[8.9 months ago]
why isn't there a url file format?
[8.9 months ago]
compiling a go project is like hell, because of the weird project structure...

maybe i should try to be more active here. having friends in my terminal is like heaven
[1.2 years ago]
wow the pace is getting faster here
[1.2 years ago]
@joshavanier welcome!
[1.3 years ago]
/wiki @ckipp i actually like the idea of interconnected reading lists
[1.3 years ago]
/wiki so basically a wiki that uses multiple twtxt feeds as sources?
[1.3 years ago]
@ckipp it might disappear in a few months and i think that's okay. the data can be just reused as it's in a human-readable format on your machine. from time to time, we move to another island on the ocean of the web.
[1.3 years ago]
@ckipp and i have the same problem now as in rotonde's days: what should i tweet where? where will i reach all the people who care about a specific tweet and no-one who doesn't
[1.3 years ago]
@ckipp in rotonde's case, i think, one problem was that dat wasn't meant for social-networking, and while it worked nicely for small number of people, it became very slow for larger groups. i see twtxt as more future-proof, accessible and stable.
[1.3 years ago]
@neauoire on what device / setup are you running #plan9?
[1.3 years ago]
/meta @neauoire agree! please support normal twtxt mentions.
[1.3 years ago]
@neauoire for me certbot always works surprisingly easy: https://certbot.eff.org/ #rpi
[1.3 years ago]
/meta @gaeel i think their UX purpose has to be decided. are they marking that this post belongs to that channel or are they just a shortcut to that channel?
[1.3 years ago]
/meta @gaeel shouldn't the highlighting then only show those as channels? otherwise it's not really clear.
[1.3 years ago]
@gaeel ah, that makes sense and as i remember it was something like this on rotonde too
[1.3 years ago]
/meta what's the difference between the purpose of channels and tags?
[1.3 years ago]
@neauoire should webring maintainers also review and merge technical prs or just new sites?
[1.3 years ago]
@setphen no, i think only the date value matters
[1.3 years ago]
/twtxt I particularly like in this little tool that it's just like rotonde, but instead of forcing DAT on everyone it lets you choose
[1.3 years ago]
/meta @neauoire happy to jump in to help
[1.3 years ago]
/hallway it's so good to be next to you, people, in a slowly-updating feed. feels like rotonde.
[1.3 years ago]
hello everyone
