@freemor Its okay :) This is what's bad about text-based communications. It often lacks intent and human emotion. But that's what we invented all these Uncideo characters for right? ๐Ÿคฃ
[3 weeks ago]
@freemor I share/empathise with your views on how we've tended in computing. I myself prefer non-GUI things and have myself also used VTs :D Nevertheless we're here now.
[3 weeks ago]
@freemor Its okay :) I apologise. I only have half the experience in numbers than you; However the way you wrote what you did was IHMO quite strongly opionated and not very open. I'm strongly opinionat...

@hjertnes Precisely :)

@hjertnes (re more users using twtxt in general): Precisely! Thank you. (sorry I didn't read my timeline in full before replying earlier!) I coudn't agree more. twtxt is really powerful, but if you want anyone to ser...

@freemor, @hjertnes I don't mean to be rude, but you two have missed the point entirely. The point is about the specification of thw twtxt format. Not the client(s) ...
[4 weeks ago]
@hjertnes (re feedback) None taken. I'm in fact trying to do both. I use twet myself and prefer the CLI, but not everyone is a g33k :D

And its livee: https://twtxt.net/ ๐ŸŽ‰
[4 weeks ago]
@hjertnes, @ @kas (re replies/threads): I'm open to ideas. Its hard to explain the ideas I have in my head in 140 chars :) Perhaps a Github issue?

@johanbove (re self-hosting) +100

@marado, @kas I would use a short hash to identify each message. A reply would add this to the start e.g: [xxx] that clients can find and group tweets together when processing their cac...
[4 weeks ago]
@kas, @hjertnes I disagree really. Its just content, no reason a smarter client can't do interesting things with it. I think it could be done with short hashes and some client smarts.
[4 weeks ago]
@hjertnes I do. Each reply would preserve a short hash of the first message. Clients can then use this to group tweets together.
[4 weeks ago]
twtxt needs a way to do replies and threads. Its hard to keep context.
[4 weeks ago]
@hjertnes Well... Why don't we define a standard "configuration" spec for twtxt clients as well?
[4 weeks ago]
@hjertnes re twet; Yeah it is very nice, I use it all the time at the moment :) I also contributed a lot of improvements to it recently and bug fixes. Now I'm working on a new web client and service, interested?
[4 weeks ago]
@hjertnes Oh now that's neat! I must do that :) THanks for the tip on adding additional info to your profile page via a README.md on your user/user repo at Github :D
[4 weeks ago]
@hjertnes Oh you mean a Github Pages repo for your own username? Yeah if that's what you mean I didn't miss it! Been using this for years :D
[4 weeks ago]
@marado Do you mean rss2twtxt? https://github.com/prologic/rss2twtxt (Public instance: https://feeds.twtxt.net)
[5 weeks ago]
@hjertnes What special Github repos? What did I miss?! :D
[5 weeks ago]
@quite Another bug fix for you https://github.com/quite/twet/pull/12 :D
[5 weeks ago]
@quite Yes I've seen the @twet bot :) Nice! Did you want to share te code that powers that? Perhaps we can spin it into another type of feed for feeds.twtxt.net ?
[1.2 months ago]
Added 10 new RSS/Atom feeds to https://feeds.twtxt.net that you can consume with your favorite twtxt client :D Enjoy!

ANN: Announcing http://feeds.twtxt.net/ RSS -> twtxt for all your feeds. Feedback welcome!
[1.3 months ago]
@jack So I purchased twtxt.net the other day. I plan to firstly put up some feeds of other sources fed by RSS to replace many of the feeds I subscribe to today via commafeed.com and phase out using CommaFeed as a c...

@jack @hjertnes In fact Mercurial (hg) is still widely used. Facebook for example exclusively uses it becuase it outperforms Git on very large repositories.

Go is Boring and that's fantastic!

@tolstoevsky Great minds :D Also not hard to do; might spin this into a web service though for anyone to use easily :D

rss2twtxt ยป A tool (written in Go) to fetch, parse and convert RSS/Atom to twtxt
[1.4 months ago]
@quite At this point I will likely keep sending you PRs to twet until I can improve it no more! :D Hope that's okay :)
[1.4 months ago]
@gbmor You're referring to my earlier twt re combining the features of htwtxt, twet and gettwtxt? :D
[1.4 months ago]
@mdom Not sure, wasn't aware it could! I might try it later, but for now I'm improving @quite's twet

[1.4 months ago]
@kas Ahh yeah I found that after I posted. I haven't tried txtnish yet mostly because there's no way to transport/import configuration from twtxt or twet around :/
